We want to do all we can to thrive as a church during this time and so we continue to look for ways to pray together and reach out to each other. We want everyone to be and feel safe when they visit the church so starting on April 18 St Margaret Church will be open to the public from 8AM to 6PM Monday through Saturday and 10:30AM to 6PM Sunday. There will be a custodian on duty during all of those hours so that everyone can be assured that all sanitary precautions are being taken to prevent the possible spread of Covid 19. We believe that this will make our Church a safer place to pray during this time of uncertainty. Please continue to observe the physical distancing guidelines.
Jesus reaches out to the Apostles in our Gospel reading this week in the Gospel of John, Jesus appears to the Apostles in the upper room. They have locked themselves in for fear of the Jews. They are living in the darkness of weakened faith. Jesus appears in their midst miraculously in that he is physically present in his glorified body but did not need a key to appear in the locked room. Poor Thomas is not with them and when they declare to him that they have seen the Lord he tells them that he will not believe until he has put his fingers in the holes in his hands and his hand in the hole in his side. The next week Thomas is there and Jesus tells him to examine his wounds but it is not necessary for Thomas; he believes just by seeing Jesus and then he makes the strongest profession of faith in the Gospel. He says to Jesus: my Lord and my God. Thomas no longer doubts and many more have believed because of his witness.
We can all reach out to people the way that Jesus did. Of course during this time we need to find new ways to so do. One idea that was proposed to me is the greater use of the Zoom online meeting. So this Tuesday April 21 I will have “office hours” on zoom so here is the invitation
